Write for us
United Design Review welcomes considered pitches about objects, graphics, interiors, architecture and design history. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the subject, the reader benefit and how you would approach it.
Subjects that fit
We are interested in clear, specific stories that help general readers notice how design choices work. A useful pitch might explain a form, compare materials in a defined context, examine a visual convention or trace the background of a design idea. Choose a subject with a distinct focus rather than promising to cover everything.
What to include
Briefly describe the proposed article, its central question and the points you would use to answer it. Tell us what sources or expertise the subject requires, note any relevant interests, and include a short description of your relevant experience. Do not send confidential material or claim access you cannot substantiate.
Before you send
Pitches should be original, accurate and written for readers without specialist knowledge. Explain technical terms when they matter, distinguish fact from opinion, and avoid unsupported claims. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication; we will consider its fit, clarity and usefulness.
How to propose a piece
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option, then describe your pitch in the message. Please do not submit a full article unless it has been requested. Include a way for us to reply, and tell us if the proposal is being considered elsewhere.
Design is a set of choices we can learn to see.
We look beyond appearance to ask what a design does, how it is made legible and who it serves. Noticing those choices makes familiar things more interesting.
